Ingredients

3/4 cup butter,
1 cup dark brown sugar, packed,
1 egg,
1/4 cup dark molasses,
2 1/4 cups flour,
2 teaspoons baking soda,
1/4 teaspoon salt,
1/2 teaspoon cloves,
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon,
1 teaspoon ground ginger,
granulated sugar for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Place the butter, brown sugar, egg and molasses in the bowl and blend on 1 until smooth. Place 1 cup of the flour and the remaining ingredients in the bowl and blend on 1 until well-combined. Clean the sides of the bowl with a spatula as needed. Add the remaining flour and blend again until the flour is incorporated.
  2. Drop the dough by teaspoons onto a baking sheet that has been lightly coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle each cookie with a few drops of water and sprinkle sugar over each cookie. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until set. Cool on a wire rack and store tightly covered.
