Warming Plate

Is the heater plate intelligent like the CF080?
Unlike the CF080 series, the CF090 Glass Carafe Series does not have an intelligent warming plate. The warming plate is automatically set for 2 hours when you activate a half carafe or full carafe on classic or rich brew. You can enable the stay warm functionality for a total of four hours or as little as 15 mins. If you want to adjust your time to stay warm, simply hold down the stay warm button for 3 seconds and the clock flashes. Use the Hour Button to toggle between 1 and 4 hours, and the Minute button to toggle in between 15 mins. Once you have selected the desired stay warm time, please press the stay warm button again.

To clean and descale your Ninja Coffee Bar:

  1. Select the Full Carafe size and set the empty carafe beneath the brew basket.
  2. (Recommended) Use a descaling solution specifically formulated for coffeemaker cleaning and follow the directions on the package. It will then pause for a half an hour, deliver additional cleaning solution, and pause for another half hour.

CAUTION: DO NOT remove carafe at any time throughout the clean cycle. DO NOT press any buttons during this 1-hour period, as this will cancel all progress of the cleaning.
  5. After one hour, your Ninja Coffee Bar will discharge the remainder of the cleaning mixture into the carafe. Upon completion, the Ninja Coffee Bar will beep, and a flush message (“FLUS”/“LUSH”) will appear on the clock screen for a 15 minute timeframe.
  6. Empty and thoroughly clean the carafe and water reservoir by following the cleaning instructions in the Care & Maintenance section of this Owner’s Guide. This removes any cleaning solution that could affect the flavor of your coffee.
  7. Fill the reservoir with fresh water up to, but not exceeding, the Max Fill line (50 oz.) and set the empty carafe beneath the brew basket.
  8. Within the 15 minute timeframe, and while the clock display reads “FLUS”/“LUSH”, press the CLEAN button once to begin the Flush stage. The Flush stage takes approximately 8 minutes.

  9. Upon completion of the Flush stage, the CLEAN light will turn off. Discard the water in the carafe, and thoroughly clean it to remove any cleaning solution that could affect the flavor of your coffee.

NOTE: If taste remains affected by cleaning solution, please run a Full Carafe, Classic Brew with water only (no coffee grounds).

Can I use shaved ice or crushed ice for iced coffee or must I use ice cubes?
Because of the different packing characteristics of shaved or crushed ice, the consumer should NOT fill their vessel to the brim if they intend to use this type of ice, as the vessel may overflow once coffee is brewed over the ice, since more crushed ice will fit in the vessel). Brewing Coffee

I didn't put in enough water, and my Ninja Coffee Bar® started beeping in mid-cycle. Can I just add more water and keep going?

The brew basket is overflowing--water is coming out of the top and down the sides.
The bottom opening is clogged. This can happen with fine espresso ground coffee or if too many coffee grounds were put into the basket. Remove the basket carefully, dump the contents in a disposal, and rinse the entire brew basket with water to remove any grounds remaining inside. Do NOT touch the basket until it has completely cooled as the water will be very HOT. The brew basket is equipped with water tracks that will let the brew basket overflow into the carafe/cup without damaging the unit.

The Ninja Coffee Bar® is equipped with Auto-iQ® technology that includes a bloom feature. This means there will be a short delay after you start your brew cycle where water is saturating with your coffee grounds in the brew basket to enhance the flavor of the coffee. The paper filter is folding over when I put the brew basket in the Ninja Coffee Bar®
Use a number 4 size filter, as larger sizes may fold over. When using a paper filter, make sure that the permanent filter has been removed from the brew basket. If not, allow the brew basket to cool before handling. The paper filters are thicker on two edges. Fold those edges along the crease (one along the bottom and once along the side) before inserting into the brew basket. Alternatively, you can wet the sides of the paper filter to temporarily adhere it to the brew basket.

My Ninja Coffee Bar® started beeping right after I tried to start a brew cycle, and no coffee is in the cup
The drip stop is on. To turn off the drip stop, move the tab on the brew basket from the Closed position to the Open position, denoted by the icon of a water drop without a slash through it.

If the tab is already in the Open position and the LED drip stop light is illuminated, reinsert the brew basket all the way to the front so that it is underneath the top of the machine. The drip stop LED light will turn off so you can start your brew cycle again.

If the tab is already in the Open position and the LED drip stop light is illuminated, reinsert the brew basket all the way to the front so that it is underneath the top of the machine. The drip stop LED light will turn off so you can start your brew cycle again.

If the brew won't start, the unit beeps, and the CLEAN light is illuminated, then the Coffee Bar must be descaled. Run a Clean cycle with descaling solution. It may require several cycles to fully clean the Coffee Bar.

My Ninja Coffee Bar® started beeping right after I tried to start a brew. There is some coffee in the cup, but it's not full.
If there is no water in the reservoir tank, refill it and start a new cycle.

If there is still water in the tank and the LED drip stop light is illuminated, then the drip stop is on. If a brew cycle starts with the drip stop on, the Coffee Bar will start to beep after 20 seconds and will continue until the drip stop is opened or six minutes has passed, at which time the brew will be canceled.

Turn off the drip stop by moving the tab on the brew basket to the Open position, denoted by the image of the water droplet without the slash. When the drip stop is open, start a new brew cycle.

I tried to start a brew cycle and my Ninja Coffee Bar® is beeping.
There are two distinct beep tones: a high-pitched, pleasant beep indicates that your coffee is ready. A low-pitched beep signals an error. See your Owner's Guide for more information.

My Coffee Bar just started to make coffee by itself and it spilled everywhere.
The drip stop is open. Close it by moving the drip stop tab on the brew basket to the closed position denoted by a water droplet icon with a slash through it to stop the brew cycle. If this does not stop the brew, unplug the brewer. The Ninja Coffee Bar® is equipped with a delay brew feature which allows you to program a brew cycle for a later time. It is likely that a delayed brew cycle was selected and the cup/carafe was not left in place to receive the coffee. Allow the brew basket (and hot plate for certain models) to cool before cleaning.

The brew basket drips even after the cycle is completed.
Once the brew cycle is complete move the drip stop the closed position denoted by a water droplet with a slash through it, before removing your brewing vessel (cup/carafe).

My brew cycle will not start.
Ensure the display is illuminated. If there are no lights, it means the machine is not getting power. Try a different outlet and press the power button on the lower right side of the brewer. (It's the one that looks like a circle with a line through the top of it). Make sure the drip stop is off, as the brew cycle will not start if it is engaged. If the drip STOP LED is on and the tab is in the open position it means the brew basket is incorrectly inserted. Remove the brew basket and review proper assembly instructions.

I didn't get as much coffee as I should have.
Ensure that you have the correct size container for the program you have selected. Rich brew and Ice brew will yield smaller and more concentrated amounts. The voltage in your home's electrical system and the type of water used can influence the amount of coffee the Ninja Coffee Bar® will yield. Hot water and/or high voltage will yield slightly less coffee, and cold water and/or low voltage will yield slightly more coffee.

My brew cycle is taking too long.
If a Classic Full Carafe brew takes longer than 11 minutes, the consumer should run a CLEAN cycle with descaling solution. Safely check, the voltage in the outlet they are using and don't run multiple appliances at once on a single circuit.

General Information

There is "mud" or sediment in my coffee.
This is a normal by-product of the reusable filter when using a medium grind size. Sediment can also be found when using a very fine grind. To avoid sediment, use a paper filter or coarser grinder size.

There are coffee grounds in my cup or carafe.
It is possible that the brew basket overflowed. Once cooled, clean out the brew basket and refill using the appropriate amount of coffee. Too many grounds can cause the basket to overflow. Alternatively, fine ground coffee can clog the brew basket. A filter must be in place when brewing (either the reusable filter or a paper one). For best brewing results, use a medium-ground coffee.
